New Leadership at School of Law

Dr. Ronald Naluwairo has been appointed Ag. Principal, School of Law, Makerere University effective 14th November 2022. He replaces Professor Christopher Mbazira who has been serving in that position since 2016. Prior to his appointment, Dr. Naluwairo was serving as Deputy Principal, School of Law. Dr. Naluwairo is Associate Professor at the School of Law and a member of Makerere University’s Board of Research and Graduate Training. He is also a member of Uganda Law Council’s Committee on Legal Education and Training. He has a PhD from the University of London, LLM from the University of Cambridge, LLB from Makerere University and a Diploma in Legal Practice from Law Development Centre. He is an Advocate of the Courts of Judicature in Uganda. 

Dr. Zahara Nampewo has been appointed Ag. Deputy Principal. School of Law, Makerere University effective 14th November, 2022. She replaces Dr. Ronald Naluwairo who has been serving in that position. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Nampewo was Ag. Director – Human Rights and Peace Centre, School of Law. Dr. Nampewo is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Law. Dr. Nampewo received her PhD from Emory University in the United States, a Master of Laws degree (International Human Rights) from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, Bachelor of Laws degree from Makerere University and Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, Uganda. She also holds an advanced Diploma in Human Rights Protection from Abo Akademi University, Turku, Finland. Dr. Nampewo is an Advocate of the Courts of Judicature in Uganda.
