School Of Law Condolence To The Rt. Hon. Speaker’s Family

Speaker Jacob L’Okori Oulanyah The Parliament of Uganda The Legal Fraternity RE: MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCE It is with deep sorrow that the School of Law, Makerere University community received the news of the demise of Rt. Hon. Speaker Jacob L’Okori Oulanyah. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the entire bereaved family, Parliament of Ugandaand the legal fraternity upon the loss of a pillar. On behalf of the School of Law community, please accept our sincere condolences at this difficult time.
Rt. Hon. Oulanyah is an alumnus of the School of Law, he was admitted in 1991 to study for a Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) and graduated in 1994. During his time at Makerere University, he served as President-Makerere Law Society; he was a member of the Guild Representative Council (G.R.C) where he also served as Speaker of the University Students’ Guild. He is remembered as an excellent orator and firebrand who was committed to upholding students’ rights. In 1995, he attended the Law Development Centre (LDC), where he obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice.
Following his graduation from the LDC, he worked as a lecturer at the Centre where he nurtured a generation of young lawyers. His service to the nation as Member of Parliament, Speaker of Parliament was a representation of his alma mater with distinction. May the Lord – Jesus Christ receive Rt. Hon. Oulanyah in paradise! May his soul rest in eternal peace. Romans 14:8 If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
