“A Good Job Done By Staff Of Law School”

Justices of the High court have commended the School of Law Makerere University for the practical teaching methodologies that have exposed Law students early enough in their career to the real-life proceedings of the court through Moot Courts.

‘You have mastered the bigger things ‘ said Justice  Lydia Mugambe while addressing students at the close of the 6^th Annual High Court Moot before real judges organized by the Public Interest Law Clinic, School of Law.

Justice Mugambe  who has been associated with the Moot Courts at High Court since inception six years ago noted the tremendous improvements made by the students as they argued their cases. ‘Take note of the redundancies, be careful what you say and how you say it, take note of the choice of words” she advised the law students.

The moot court by students in the Clinical Legal Education class was facilitated by the Public Interest Law clinic and is one of the practical learning exposures  for students on the program.It was presided over by Justice Lydia Mugambe, Justice Musa Sekaana and Justice Eva Luswata.

Justice Musa Sekaana said the students were privileged to have such exposures early enough and urged them to keep up the skill acquired even while in practice.  He said this kind of mentorship to the young lawyers would go a long way to sustain and give further effect to the foundation laid by the senior counsels. He emphasized  the need to be conscious of  areas like the dress code, presentation skills, research which were professionally done.

Abbas Luyombya, a student with visual impairment was named as the best orator male, while Natalie Okeny was named best female oralist.
