AfriDoors 2019 At Addis Ababa University
The School of Law, Makerere University is a partner in a regional project called “Strengthening Human Rights Research and Education in Sub-Saharan Africa (SHUREA)”. SHUREA is a Finnish funded project whose overall goal is to strengthen policy relevant human rights research at Makerere University (Uganda), Addis Ababa University (Ethiopia), University of Nairobi (Kenya), University of Pretoria (South Africa) and Åbo Akademi (Finland).
SHUREA has organized and invites interested participants to the Annual African Forum for Doctoral Research in Human Rights (AfriDoors) for human rights doctoral students, post-docs and supervisors of doctoral Students at the member institutions (AfriDoors) to be held at Addis Ababa University from 7th – 12th October 2019.
The objectives of this year’s AfriDoors are to:
• Enhance skills and capacity of doctoral students on human
rights research, with a focus on innovative approaches
• Enhance the skills and capacity of supervisors of doctoral
students doing human rights-related research
• Serve as a platform to discuss and provide feed-back on ongoing
doctoral research
• Stimulate reflection on substantive human rights issues of
contemporary relevance to doctoral research in human rights
