The Department of Law and Jurisprudence is one of the oldest Departments at the School of Law. The Department is responsible for the teaching of the science or theory or philosophy of law – delving deeply into what the law ought to be (de facto) vis a vis what it is (de jure). The Department is responsible for the teaching of subjects such as Law of Evidence, Criminology and Penology, Family Law, Conflict of Laws, Social Research Methods, Introduction to Law, Legal Methods, Jurisprudence, Land Law, Gender and the Law, amongst others
