Mr. Bakayana joined the School of Law in 2006 and is attached to the Department of Law & Jurisprudence. Prior to that, he was working with the Uganda Human Rights Commission as acting Director and a Researcher with the Department of Monitoring and Treaties. He teaches Human Rights, Introducing Law and Estate Planning Equity and Trusts. His research interests include Human Rights and Law in Development. He has published on issues concerning the role of the Uganda Human Rights Commission in the protection of the right to a speedy trial in Uganda, the Amnesty process and the conflict in Northern Uganda, displaced persons in Northern Uganda and Culture and Human Rights. He is a member of several professional bodies such as, the Uganda Law Society and the East Africa Law Society. He is an Advocate of the Courts of Judicature in Uganda and practices law with M.B Gimara Advocates.
