SoL installs Smart Room to support teaching and learning
A 3-day training for Makerere University School of Law (SoL) staff on how to use the newly installed Smart Class at the School was concluded on 4th October 2025. The training for academic, administrative and support staff was conducted by A&T Integrated Education Solutions, India.
The Smart Class to be used for streaming, video conferencing, 3D Smart Classroom solution, highbred online classroom, lecture capture solution through recording and virtual classroom solution; this will further improve teaching, learning, meeting services in this era of digital transformation. The Eduslate software used supports 160 languages.
In her message to the participants read by Mr. Laban Lwasa – School Registrar, the Ag. Dean, Dr. Zahara Nampewo said, ‘It is my pleasure to welcome you to this important workshop on the use of the Smart Room here at the School of Law. As staff, you play a critical role in the daily operations of the School, and it is vital that you are familiar with the facilities and technologies that enhance both teaching, learning and administration’.

She highlighted the importance of the Smart Room which is designed to provide modern, interactive, and efficient tools for teaching, meetings, and presentations. She further noted, ‘by understanding how it works, we not only support our lecturers and students better, but we also position the School to maintain its leading role in legal education and innovation’.
She encouraged staff to actively participate, ask questions, and gain practical skills that will help you operate the Smart Room confidently. ‘Together, let us embrace this technology and use it to improve service delivery at the School of Law’, she added.
The training provided information on the set-up and gadgets available for the staff to use as well as practical sessions on use of the smart room.
