THE MAKERERE UNIVERSITY RULE OF LAW CLUB

The Makerere University rule of law club is a non-political, non-religious non-sectarian and non-profit making forum dedicated to the promotion of the rule of law in Uganda

Establishment of the club

The Makerere University rule of law club was established by the Uganda Law Society under the Uganda law society rule of law club projects in 2017 to promote a culture of the rule of law in the country.

Purpose

To promote and preserve member interest in Rule of law issues in the country and to teach the law within its social context.

Activities of the club

The club is meant to carry out different activities such as;
Organize career discussions and mentorship programmes for members
Advocate for the respect of the rule of law by every person
Create awareness and discussions on tropical issues affecting the rule of law in Uganda
Organize and participate in regular moot courts and debates about the rule of law, governance etc
Become ambassadors of the rule of law in communities through outreaches.

The club is determined to engage with the rule of law topic beyond what is traditionally offered by law school and also involve more people especially students from other colleges.
