Celebrating 50 years of the Makerere Law Society
In 1971, our fore Fathers discovered a need to establish a Students' Union at the then Makerere University Faculty of Law. They were inspired by a deep desire to inculcate the traditions of the legal profession and to foster social interaction at all levels among law students to produce holistic lawyers with an aim to create a responsible society
This year, 2021, The Makerere Law Society celebrates its Golden Jubilee!
Over the past 50 years since its inception in 1971 as the representative body for students at the school of Law, The Makerere Law Society, under the stewardship of our immediate and past predecessors has reached various milestone achievements in line with our founding principles and objectives.
We find that these efforts deserve to be revered.
Even in light of the Lockdown and the Pandemic, we feel that we owe our fore Fathers a great deal of gratitude. We must look back and reminisce their sacrifices, reflect on how they have shaped us, remember the past (but without letting it rule us) for how important it can be in helping us in understanding who we are
Today marks the beginning of the our online Jubilee celebrations with the rollout of our #MLS@50 LOGO under the theme
”Diversifying professional knowledge and career opportunities for Law Students through a robust alumni network.”
Among other activities which shall be communicated in the coming days, we shall have a Public Lecture on 10th August 2021 where a key note address shall be given by one of the Best Legal Brains in Africa in line with the cherished values and responsibilities of the Makerere Law Society.
We call upon the entire students' community at Makerere University, the Makerere Law School Fraternity, alumni and well wishers of the Makerere Law Society to join us in celebrating our journey since 1971 to Present
