THE STATE OF THE FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION IN EMERGING DEMOCRACIES A CASE STUDY OF UGANDA

 

This paper examines freedom of expression under the current legal framework in Uganda. The paper is the result of extensive desk review of literature related to the topic of research. While arguing that Uganda has a robust legal framework to protect freedom of expression; it presents key challenges faced in the realisation of the right in Uganda. The paper concludes with recommendations to key stakeholders on how to address the many challenges faced in the exercise of freedom of expression in the country.
