Program Goals and Objectives

To develop research and consistent dialogue on different facets of rule of law, international human rights law, role of regional organizations, inter- national law mechanisms, among others.

            To promote intellectual debates and develop academic scholarships among students and institutions as an addition to advocacy skills in inter- national courts and tribunals such as the International Court of Justice.

             To critically debate, write and discuss on contemporary rule of law and international law issues hence address the absence of the platform of understanding international law from different perspectives, respective states position in international affairs. This is through conducting in-depth research, developing the ability to give legal reasoning on rule of law, democracy, human rights and international law.

To provide a meaningful platform for students to make themselves genu- inely qualified to represent themselves in national, regional and interna- tional programs and develop interest to represent their country at the international scene.

To create networking avenue in areas of rule of law and international law.

 

Mission

THE MISSION OF THE INTERNATIONAL LAW STUDENTS ASSOCIATION IS TO… EDUCATE                                               

students and lawyers around the world in the principles and purposes of international law, international organizations and institutions, and comparative legal systems, through activities that include academic conferences, the publication of books, magazines, and other academic resources, the global coordination of student chapter organizations, and the administration of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.

ENCOURAGE  COMMUNICATION                     

among students and lawyers from different parts of the world in an effort to promote interna- tional understanding and cooperation in general, and the advancement of legal education in particular

CONTRIBUTE TO LEGAL EDUCATION             

to foster mutual understanding, and to promote social responsibility of students and lawyers


PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES

for law students and lawyers to learn about other cultures and legal systems in a spirit of criti- cal dialogue and international cooperation;


ASSIST LAW STUDENTS

and lawyers to be internationally-minded and professionally skilled


ASSIST IN AND ENCOURAGE

the development of international career resources and opportunities for international- ly-minded students and lawyers


ENGAGE

in other activities related to the development and promotion of international law, study, and practice generally.
