PILAC – NETPIL – MAK & IUIU CLINICAL ENGAGEMENTS

 

Background

The Public Interest Law Clinic (PILAC) at the School of Law, Makerere University together with the Network of Public Interest Lawyers (NETPIL) have in the recent past engaged in promoting clinical legal education, legal aid and public interest litigation amongst universities. This has been within the structure and mandate of East African Network of University Law Clinics (EANULAC)

 

Currently, PILAC & NETPIL are implementing an extension of its project - Using Legal Education to Promote Public Interest Lawyering and Improve on Access to Justice as one on the Implementing Partners (IPs) of the Democratic Governance Facility (DGF) Phase II project. PILAC is focusing on sphere 3 of the DGF project: Protection of Human Rights, Access to Justice and Gender Equality. PILAC's Area of Intervention (AoI) is specific to AoI 3.2 Improving Access to Justice. PILAC's interventions are to contribute to the DGF Outcome 3 which is improved public policy and law.

 

Part of the PILAC project is establishment of Network of Public Interest Lawyers (NETPIL) University Chapters, being implemented under NETPIL, amongst other activities.
