Law scholars from across East Africa have welcomed the proposal to introduce a masters law program with a course in extractives, policy and practice in Makerere University. They say it will to nurture home grown experts in the extractives rather than relying on foreign experts in negotiations. Principal of Makerere University School of Law Prof Christopher Mbazira says there is need to prepare the next crop of lawyers to advise government on the extractives industry.
