Makerere issues programme for 69th Graduation ceremony

 

With less than 3 weeks left until the sixty ninth Makerere University graduation ceremony, the university has released a programme that will be followed during the four day convocation.

According to the Academic Registrar at Makerere University, Dr. Alfred Masikye Namoah, 10216 students are expected to graduate in January.

These will however be subjected to full payment of the necessary convocation, graduation, transcripts and tuition fees.

Makerere University School of law will be celebrating 50 years of existence this year.

Having started in 1968 as a department in the then faculty of science when Makerere was still the university of East Africa, the school is now an independent college under the Makerere University collegiate system that was started in 2012.

Nawangwe orders all students to vacate Makerere University by Friday

 

Makerere University’s Vice Chancellor Barnabas Nawangwe has ordered all students at the university to vacate its premises before mid-day on Friday following President Museveni’s directive to suspend school for one month.

In a video posted on his verified social media Twitter handle, Nawangwe said that Makerere University welcomed the move of suspending school activities as a measure to stem the spread of the virus.

Stanbic Bank donates IT equipment to Makerere University

 

Stanbic Bank has donated IT equipment, comprising computers worth Shs 100 million towards helping Makerere University management reequip its main administration centre after a recent fire destroyed a substantial part of the famous main building.

Commonly referred to as the ‘Ivory Tower’, the iconic building caught fire during the last week of September in a case still being investigated by police and other relevant authorities.

Makerere University pushes 71st graduation ceremony to May

 

Makerere University Vice Chancellor Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe has announced that the university will hold its 71st convocation between May 10th and 14th, 2021.

Without giving further details on whether the ceremony will be held virtually like the initial plan was, Prof. Nawangwe said that the senate is making conclusive efforts to make it worth the long wait.

“Senate has scheduled this year’s graduation on 10-14 May. We are making all necessary arrangements for a befitting ceremony for our gallant intellectuals,” Prof. Nawangwe said in a tweet.
