Law Students appeal for more practical learning opportunities


The pioneer students in the pilot Business Law Clinic that has been running in the School of Law have called for more opportunities for practical exposures in the teaching and learning of Law. They also called for an increase in the number of students in order to benefit a wider group given the proven opportunities experienced to date.

Dr. Winnie Tarinyeba inducted as a Fellow of the Uganda National Academy of Sciences


Dr. Winnie Tarinyeba was inducted as a Fellow of the Uganda National Academy of Sciences on 23rd October 2020 instant by the President of the Academy, Professor Peter Mugyenyi.

She was nominated by Prof. D.J Bakibinga, with Professor Emmanuel Kasimbazi as seconder.  She becomes the fifth member of School of Law to be inducted after Prof. D.J Bakibinga, Professor Kasimbazi, Professor Mbazira and Dr Mayambala.

Makerere University wins the 11th Interuniversity Human Rights Competition


The School of Law Makerere University won the 11th annual Inter University Human Rights Competition organized by the Foundation for Human Rights Initiative, Uganda. The competition was held at Mountains of the Moon University from the 17th to 18th September 2020.


Digital Money and Uganda’s Economy, Facts and Issues


This was the subject of discussion at the School of Law on Friday 28th February 2020, when a panel of  experts led a discourse on the subject that is causing as much fear as excitement in all circles.

The Public Dialogue was convened by the Centre for Law and emerging Technologies, an intiative of the School of Law started off by Law teachers with a passion for mainstreaming Law with technology  that include  Mr. Robert Kirunda, Ms. Grancia Mugalula and Ms. Hadijah Namyalo.
