The Vice Chancellor and Top University Management Visit to the school of Law

Academic staff at the School of Law can now get their Practicing Certificates through the Directorate of Legal Services Makerere University that has been accredited bythe Law Council to offer legal services. Prior to this the staff were applying for the Practicing certificates under Law firms.

Public Dialogue on “Women in Peace Building”

Seventeen years after the adoption of UN Security Council resolution on women, peace and security (UNSCR 1325), women are still largely excluded from formal peace processes and international mediation efforts. Yet, research shows that women's participation in peace processes and mediation increases the likelihood of a peace agreement being concluded and adhered to.
 

Law students graduate

Ms Lornah Afoyomungu Olum the best performing female law student in 2017 was honored by The Association of Female Lawyers (FIDA Uganda) during the 68th graduation ceremony held at the freedom square on the 19th of January 2018. Ms. Alum who scored a CGPA of 3.87 received a plaque and a cash prize of Five Hundred Thousand Shillings as a token of appreciation for her excellent performance. 
 

Family Law Books Unveiled.

The Deputy Chief Justice, Alfonse Owiny Dollo has commended the authors of the two publications on Family Law launched at Sheraton Hotel on Friday 24th November 2017. 
 

University of Zurich to partner with the School of Law

A delegation of staff from The University of Zurich in Switzerland has expressed interest in partnering with the School of Law Makerere University in areas of mutual interest. The visiting that will be working detailed modalities of the kind of partnerships said this were to be their first collaboration with a University in Africa.
 

School of Law hosts a National dialogue of the state of policing in Uganda

The Public Interest law Clinic in the School of Law in conjunction with Human Rights Network-Uganda (HURINET-U) and The Network of Public Interest Lawyers (NETPIL) on Friday 17th November 2017convened a National Dialogue on the State of Policing in Uganda at the St Francis Students Centre in Makerere University.

Justice James Ogola Launches a Report on Land Governance in Uganda

The Human Rights and Peace Centre (HURIPEC) recently convened a National Stakeholder’s Dialogue on Land Justice and Governance in Uganda at Hotel Africa. The Dialogue was aimed at raising public consciousness about governance issues in as far as land is concerned.
 

The 1st Internal Disability Rights moot competition

On Friday 3rd November 2017, the School of Law held the first ever internal moot  court on disability rights on the theme; Accessibility to services.The overall objective of the moot competition was to enhance disability rights awareness within the community at the School of law and the entire University community.
